Hottest Blaze in the Valley

Little Baby Bill Meets Blaze Starr

After forestry school – Poor Baby Bill was working for Georgia Pacific deep in southern West Virginia. He was “cursing timber“(scouting out timbering potential on the farms and making deals with the farmers.)

Baby Bill hiked up Twelve-pole Creek in Wayne County where he came across a cabin. He stopped and shouted a greeting at the edge of the clearing, as it was the protocol to introduce yourself at any farms or cabins along the way; so you didn’t get shot.

He was promptly invited inside where he noticed a big poster from the Two O’clock Club on the Block in Baltimore.

Poor Baby Bill tied not to stare at the life-sized poster, but the old man noticed and said, “That’s my daughter,” the old man said – “would you like to meet her?”

Baby Bill stuttered out “Ww, wa, well …. Sure …”

The old man called out “Fannie, come on in here.” And sure enough she came out of the back room to greet their guest and invited Baby Bill to “Stop and see me anytime you’re in Baltimore – it’ll be on the house.”

It was never discovered if Baby Bill made his way to Baltimore to take her up on her invitation.
